In Nashville and in Brentwood, DeLozier Plastic Surgery’s team of aestheticians are highly qualified to deliver microneedling treatments to suitable candidates.

First, we sit down for a consultation to listen to your concerns and ensure they are in line with a microneedling treatment. Typically we treat patients over the age of 18, but can work with patients as young as 15 with parental consent.

In addition to aligning your goals, timeline, and budget, we will also ensure your skin is healthy enough for treatment. We will assess the quality of the skin, checking for any signs of active acne or open wounds.

Prior to each microneedling treatment, we ask that you:

• Pause retinol/Retin-A for 3 days
• Avoid sun exposure for 1 week

After each of your microneedling sessions, you should:

• Account for 3 to 4 days of downtime
• Not exercise for 48 hrs
• Avoid the sun for 1 week
• Pause on active skincare for 1 week

Most patients need a total of 3 initial sessions, each spaced 4-6 weeks apart, to achieve substantial results. After that, we may recommend additional treatments annually for continued maintenance; or a combination of other skin rejuvenation treatments. Maintaining a consistent at-home skincare routine with high-quality products will ensure your results are as long lasting as possible.

A few examples include:

While receiving a microneedling treatment can be uncomfortable for some, it is tolerable for most. If you feel any acute discomfort during your microneedling session, let your provider know and we can accommodate you. We provide ample time before we start to allow a numbing solution to take effect, and also offer Pro-Nox for utmost patient comfort.

Once you finish your treatment, you will likely need about 3 to 4 days for downtime. Beyond that, 1 week is the typical timeframe for full recovery. For optimal results, we recommend the following practices:

• Continue to avoid sun exposure. Wear SPF and protective clothing to keep your skin protected.
• Do not use ice to soothe the treatment area. You may use a fan if you feel the need to cool your skin down.
• Wait 4 hours before cleaning your skin. Only use cool water and gentle soaps applied with your hands alone.
• Avoid excess sweating by steering clear of strenuous workouts for at least 24 hours after your appointment.
• Scabs and dry skin may form from your treatment, but do not scratch or pick at them. Allow them to fall off naturally to avoid scarring or prolonged recovery.
