Determining your candidacy for an abdominoplasty comprises several components. The first is ensuring you are healthy enough to undergo surgery. We will order any testing necessary to verify this.
After giving birth or losing weight, the skin around your abdomen tends to loosen. The muscles can also spread apart (called rectus diastasis). So as part of our qualification process for abdominoplasty, we will also discuss your lifestyle and plan for the future, namely whether or not you are planning on having any (or any more) children.
Another component of candidacy is whether or not you are able to take the necessary time to recover.
Please note: abdominoplasty is not inherently a weight loss procedure. It is solely designed to remove excess skin and re-position the belly button (if necessary). If you are also interested in removing fat from the abdomen, we also offer several variations of the liposuction procedure, and are happy to walk you through the process for combining these surgeries together to achieve your individual goals!
